02/06/2012 Dear all, I have very sad news. Bugsy tonight got bloat (gastric dilation and torsion). We have taken him immediately to the clinic, doctors started surgery and unfortunately they was not able to save him so he died one and half months before his fifth birthday. We were not ready for such news, Bugsy never visited vet with health problem and left us alone at the top of his powers. We hope that his quality and sweet nature will continue in his sixty offsprings. Bugsy thank you for everything we have experienced with you!
01/28/2012 We have travelled with Bugsy to IDS in Głogów, Poland today. The judge, Mrs. Soleckyj-Szpunar gave him excellent report, then awareded him CWC (Polish CAC, final needed for Bugsy's title Polish Champion) and finally he received CACIB for the best male. Overall number entered leonbergers was 16, among them Bugsy´s daughter Altea Dil Ka Rishta, finished Exc2 in the Champion Class. The winner of the female Intermediate Class Zmura Grande Leonis received BOB.
01/26/2012 Polish Champion Luna (Fila Murowane Szczęście) visited Bugsy for mating. The results from ultrasound examination will be available within one month. Pics are in the photogallery.
01/03/2012Sconfinato Grande Nina from Netherlands has 12 puppies, and 4 are still available, you can find pictures also in our photogallery. Also, we got a message from Poland that Juhaszvari-Kedves Halima is expecting Bugsy's puppies. Congratulations!
11/26/2011 We have decided to take Bugsy to 122nd International Winner Show in Amsterdam. The oldest, biggest and also most prestigious Dutch dog show was held in exhibition center RAI in the south Amsterdam. As recommended, due to anticipated problems with parking, we went to the show in the early morning. In the spacious hall rings were sufficient enough even for Leonbergers. We had to wait until Lhasa Apso, and Boston terriers judging finished and it was not very pleasant to Bugsy. The leonberger's judging started in the afternoon. There were five strong competitors in the Champion Class. From my point of view the most serious rivals were Rosaceae Amaranthus and Memicedaiska Ultimus. View of the judge, Mr Andrew Brace was different. According his opinion Bugsy´s most important competitor was Ludwig vom Heidersiefen, who was finally awarded the first place. The main purpose of our trip was to meet our Dutch friends and to show Bugsy to future potential owners of his descendants. The second place is a nice bonus. Photos from the show as well as from the town visit are in photogallery.
09/24-25/2011 It is already our family tradition to visit German Leonberger Club Show at the end of September. Unlike last year this year weather was excellent. We entered Bugsy into the Champion Class. The competition was extremely strong as usal in Leonberg. There was 18 dogs in the Champion Class. Our judge was Mr. Willi Güllix, president of the German Club of Leonberger Dogs. After very thourough examination of each dog he has chosen final for: Norris (Amicus Optimus Antonius), Skjærgaardens Chief Of Potowatomi , Zidan von der Osnitz and Bugsy. Bugsy was patient enough during long judging and showed himself in good form. Mr. Güllix placed Bugsy to the 3rd place. There was one more family interest for Bugsy. His son Yogi (New Hope v. Löwengarten) was entered in the Junior Class together with another 11 dogs. His breeder, Rahel Schale prepared and showed Yogi in excellent way and Yogi won the Junior Class. Then he competed with six months older Winner of Young Class Bastie von der Abtsküche and after the common decision of all seven judges Yogi was declared the Best Young Male Dog of the Show. It was great family success and photos of Bugsy and Yogi are in photogallery as well as in web galleries of many other show visitors.
09/22/2011We have received long waiting diploma confirming Bugsy as International Champion of Beauty FCI. You can find a copy in the section Documents, as usual.
08/10/2010 Genetic research carried out at the University of Minnesota, the University of Bern, and the University of California San Diego, identified the causative gene mutation that causes Leonberger polyneuropathy (LPN1). The identified mutation is responsible for approximately one third of the cases of polyneuropathy in Leonbergers. The University of Minnesota and the University of Bern will offer genetic testing for the identified LPN1 mutation starting July 1st, 2010. We have decided to let Bugsy tested. We are happy to inform you Bugsy is free of the LPN1 mutation for polyneuropathy. The copy of testing result from University of Bern, you can find in the Document section of our web.
